A Letter from Don Selle, Jenks Chief of Police

Welcome to the Jenks Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 146 web site. The men and women of the Jenks Police Department are honored to have the opportunity to service the citizens of Jenks. Having had a long history of service with the Jenks community we strive for excellence in meeting the needs of our residents and visitors alike by creating a safe and friendly community. The Jenks Police Department is made up of a unique and diverse workforce consisting of 30 employees.

Chief of Police Don Selle With an authorized sworn strength of 15 full-time officers, 2 part-time officers, 5 reserve officers; and, 4 full-time dispatchers, 2 part-time dispatchers, and 2 support staff, the JPD responded to over 9,000 dispatched calls for service and over 17,000 total calls during 2007. We are proud of the way in which we interact with the community in our continuing collaborative problem solving efforts. In concerted effort to be transparent with the community, strive for excellence in providing all the requirements necessary from a small size full service modern Police Department.

Crime prevention is the anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of some action to remove or reduce it. The Jenks police motto, Working Together for a Safer Community, is a community-based initiative that unites businesses, residents, city officials and law enforcement intended to maximize safety and minimize theft and other crimes in our community. By uniting businesses, residents, city officials, and law enforcement in a plan to reduce crime, communities will become a safe place to live, work, and shop. Crime prevention requires the active cooperation of all members of the community. The Jenks Police Department is working hard to catch the "bad guys" and put them behind bars, but we are counting on you to work together in the fight against crime.

Policing and all its components are dynamic. The Jenks Police Department continues to strive to maintain a leadership role among small size police departments with our commitment to growth and change that best benefits our ultimate customer, the public. We invite citizen input to assist us in ensuring our continued success. Corporate partnerships are more important than ever and far greater resources are needed to address the magnitude of threats we now face.

Thank you on behalf of the men and women of Jenks F.O.P. lodge 146.
