UPDATE
We
are pleased to inform the public of some exciting and positive
news from this situation.
The City has resumed meeting with the Police Officers
of Jenks and has a preliminary Contract with the FOP. They
have discontinued the immediate effort to eliminate our police
department but have told us that they intend to still look at
the possibility of getting rid of your local Police.
The grass roots efforts started and conducted by
Citizen Groups has paid off and we believe that the City
Management is getting the message. However, this is not quite
over and we need one more big push to let the city leaders
know how you the public feel about keeping your local police
local. From the beginning we knew it was you, the public, that
had to make this decision and we are honored that you have
overwhelming spoke to the confidence and support you have for
the Jenks Police Department.
We are still having a rally on Saturday morning at the
New Spring Family Church to pass out Door Hangers and Flyers
to notify the public of the City Council Meeting on Monday the
5th of April at City hall. This is YOUR chance to
voice your opinion to the city leaders that you want to keep
your Public Safety Local!
